Contrary to the stereotype of older people as tech-averse, participants over 60 showed above-average hope about AI's potential to assist with health management, independence maintenance, and learning.
Women showed higher concern about AI-enabled surveillance and harassment. Men showed higher concern about job displacement, particularly in technical fields. Both concerns are valid but reflect different experiences of vulnerability.
China-adjacent countries (Japan, South Korea) showed highest trust in AI systems. US and European participants showed moderate trust. Indian participants showed high trust in AI for professional tasks but low trust in AI for medical and financial decisions.
Across all countries and demographics, an overwhelming majority (87%) wanted human oversight of AI decisions in high-stakes contexts — healthcare, criminal justice, financial lending, employment.

Lower surveillance fear: Indian participants showed lower concern about government AI surveillance than Western participants — which may reflect cultural differences, different baseline trust levels, or different media narratives.
The most important insight from 80,000 voices: people want AI to help them do real things better — and they are worried about being misled by AI that seems more capable than it is.
This is not fear of robots or science fiction scenarios. It is practical wisdom about the actual limitations of current AI systems.
